The weather in Hannover, Germany is weird, to say the least. I've never seen such huge swings in weather until I lived here. Not even the sudden afternoon thunderstorms in Savannah, GA were as interesting. Gabriella and I go about our daily lives anyway, we just have to be prepared for anything. We wear layers and bring an umbrella where ever we go. However, it ain't always easy!
We don't have a car here in Germany, so we are always walking and taking the bus or the tram. This means we are always exposed to the elements. We usually go out in the mornings to buy groceries or to go into the middle of Hannover for shopping or to meet a friend.
On Monday, we had Bailey, our dog, with us because he had a hair cut appointment at the "Hunde Friseur". I thought I was prepared for the weather that day, which started out sunny. I was wrong. The winds started and the sideways snow began as we got off the tram and tried to find the dog groomer. I definitely found that I need an industrial strength umbrella in Hannover. Eventually, we found our way, but not without a few unrepeatable expletives under my breath! Bailey looks great! The groomer did well even though we couldn't communicate very well. It's amazing how far hand demonstrations will take you! Those days of playing charades really paid off!
Today, Wednesday, it's been snowing all day so Gabriella and I are just staying inside. Gabriella has been fighting a cold for a while. It just feels like one of those days where you just want to stay in your nice, warm house and watch the pretty snow out the window.
I'm hearing reports of what the weather is like in the U.S. right now, warm 70 degree days with sun, and I am quite jealous. On a positive note, the trees here are beginning to get green buds and the daffodils are out, so I know Spring is coming. Soon, I hope??
Gabriella at the bottom steps to our apartment. She can climb all 100 stairs!
The view out the front door of our apartment. Can you see the snow?
A picture of the snow, but look at the daffodil and other green growing stuff!
Earlier this week in Hannover, sunny and a little spring-like
