We just got home from our weekend trip to Amsterdam. We had a great time. It actually seemed relaxing, maybe because we stayed outside Amsterdam in the small fishing village of Durgerdam. We spent all day Saturday in Amsterdam touring the sites. The first stop of the day was the "Van Gogh Museum". We loved it and we enjoyed getting an art lesson. Van Gogh may have had some mental issues, but he sure could paint! He reminded me a little of myself (just kidding). If I could paint, I would paint the kinds of things he painted. Seeing his work made me want to see if I had some hidden painting talent somewhere that I didn't know I had. After Van Gogh, we were off for a walk along one of Amsterdams many beautiful canals, specifically, the Segal Canal. We ate lunch at a Dutch Pancake house. The dutch are known for their sweet and savory pancakes. Yummy! That's all I have to say about that. After lunch, we strolled through a beautiful flower market, but took no pictures (Acck!).We eventually made our way to the dock where we hopped aboard a Canal Boat for a boat tour of Amsterdam's canals. It was relaxing even with Gabriella jumping all over us (we switched it up at various intervals so we each got a couple minutes of peace.)Next, it was off to Dam Square, which is considered a central meeting place in Amsterdam, for a look and a picture.Soon, our curiousity got the best of us and we headed for the "Red Light District". We walked down one street and decided it was overrated and that we'd seen enough so, we headed for Southeast Amsterdam for some food.Specifically, Indonesian food, which we heard was very good in Amsterdam. Not only was this food very good, but I've never seen so much food given to one person (me) in all my life. You know that's saying something for an American! We have no photographic evidence of how much I ate and I still don't like to talk about it. Let's just say, I'm good for at least two or three days. I have all the pictures here or on Flickr. All of the photos are labled on facebook.
