Our Trip to Paris, France

We arrived home from our trip to Paris this past Sunday (07-06-08).
Lets just say, we have a love/hate relationship with Paris at this point in our lives.
First the love . . .we loved the beauty of old Paris. Paris along the Seine River is gorgeous! On Saturday, we saw the Louvre and Notre Dame. We walked along the Seine. We explored "old Paris" on a walking tour. We ate lots of bread, cheese, and fries.
We toured the Louvre first thing on Saturday morning. It was really a life experience getting to see some of the greatest works of art of all time! The Louvre is home to many well-known masterpieces I had only seen in books. The most famous resident of the Louvre is the "Mona Lisa" with "Venus De'Milo" coming in at a close second. There were a lot of people crowded around both of them and I had to really be pushy to make my way to the front and get up close and personal (that's where my time amongst the German people began to pay off).
On Sunday, we went to the Eiffel Tower in the morning. This was probably my favorite part of the trip. We decided not to wait in the huge lines to go up to the top, since 'heights' are not really my thing. We found a small grassy park below the Tower where we all layed down and looked up at the tower and clouds and contemplated life (Gabriella came up with some of THE most insightful things). It was great!
Now, the Hate . . . . I hate Parisian subways. I'll just get that out of the way right now. They are dirty, smelly, and overcrowded. I suggest avoiding them if you can. More than likely you can't if you are a regular person and you need to get from point A to point B in Paris.
Our hotel did not have a crib for Gabriella. They gave us a cot. Gabriella has never slept in a cot so she had a crash course in sleeping in one the first night we were there. We put chairs on the side so she couldn't fall out, but I was nervous the whole night. Needless to say, none of us slept at all the first night in Paris. The second night was better, but we all slept again really soundly when we got to our home in Hannover on Sunday night. Now for pics . . . .
