It's been a while, but we've been really busy 'round here! D. and I went to Germany last week (1/6 thru 1/12) to look for a place to live for the next 2 years of our lives. We had success! Our relocation agent showed us all varieties of housing options in Hannover. Everyday, we met up early with our agent and spent the day touring around. We finally decided to choose something totally different than we're used to now. We chose a "flat" on the 5th floor of a beautiful historic building almost in the center of Hannover. In fact, we will be able to be able to walk out our front door and walk for about 2 blocks and be in the city center! We've both always wanted to experience living in a big city, so we're both excited about this place.
Another thing that we noticed on our trip was how active the German people seem to be as a whole. Everyone walks and bikes almost everywhere. It was quite common to see bikers, joggers, and walkers at all hours of the day and night. I'm really excited that I might actually get in shape!!!
Gabriella got to stay with her Grandma T while her daddy and I were off gallivanting around Germany. It seemed like they had a great time hanging out.
Well, this past week was my first week as a stay-at-home momma and I made it. I actually had a good time. Gabriella seems to like it just fine, too. We stayed at home and played some, we ran errands some, we rested some, and I cleaned and picked up a lot!
Today, to continue the craziness that has been our life for the past few months, we went out and purchased a new car! Talk about spontaneous! I am married to a man who is not usually known for his spontaneity, especially when it comes to financial matters. To fully understand why we purchased a new car today, I'll give you a little background info . . . We own a BMW. We purchased this car in 2003. We've enjoyed it very much, BUT, last year, or maybe 2 yrs ago, the warranty expired. Since then, this car, that is supposed to be a luxury vehicle, seems to have something wrong with it every 3 months. I'm not talking just a small amount of repairs. I'm talking large dollar repairs. D thinks it may be in an effort to get someone to purchase a new Beamer with a new warranty, so as not to incur all of the costs, but we're not pointing fingers. All we know is that we take the car in for what seems to be a small issue, and the next thing we know the dealership is telling us we have much bigger issues than we thought with much bigger repair bills.
Anyway, we decided to jump off the BMW bandwagon and hop back on to the Toyota train! We are the proud new owners of a Toyota Prius! All I know is, I certainly do feel smart when I pull up to a stop light and I'm not burning any gas. I also think it's cool that when the electric engine turns on, there are no emissions coming out of the car that are bad for the environment. How cool is that?!
Here are some pics!!! I hope everyone is well! We're gonna be busy these next 4 weeks getting ready for our move, but it's the good kind of busy. I'll try to update the blog often.
